THE PERMIT TO FILM IN BRAZIL
THE BRAZILIAN FILM PERMIT LAW Foreign audiovisual production businesses that intend to carry out work in Brazil may only do so by means of contracts with Brazilian production businesses with national capital, and employing a crew composed of at least a quarter of Brazilian artists and technicians. According to the established law 8,401/92, wherein (article IV ), it is mandatory that this type of production must be reported to the Ministry of Culture`s Secretariat for the Development of Audiovisual. The whole process is simple and quickly approved after the fulfillment of the legal requirements.

“Do I need to hire a local producer?”
THE PROCESS TO OBTAIN A BRAZILIAN PERMIT
APPROXIMATELY 1 WEEK
Foreign producers must sign a contract with a Brazilian producer. The Brazilian producer must deliver copies of the contract to the Ministries of Culture and labor, stating the percentage of Brazilian Workers, and must also give the passport numbers, citizenship, duties, place of departure, list of equipment, and expected duration of work by the foreign crew. After approving the request made by the Brazilian co-producer, the Ministry of Culture`s Secretariat for the Development of Audiovisual will send the authorization to the Ministry of External Relations for concession of the respective visa.
